The BCYBA is a sponsor and supporter of the Certified Professional Yacht Broker Program.  All BCYBA members who qualify are encouraged to apply for CPYB and challenge the CPYB exam. There are approximately 500 Certified Professional Yacht Brokers, or about 10 percent of YBA members across North America. Successful candidates will join an elite group of professional peers.

It is a challenging and rewarding designation that shows top level proficiency, and strong commitment to the yacht brokerage profession. 

CPYB accreditation requires the completion of a comprehensive exam that covers laws and regulations, technical information, transactions, and broker responsibilities and ethics. The exam is offered quarterly and is taken at the BCYBA offices, and at an Island venue as required by demand.  There is non-refundable $100 CAD fee for the administration of the exam.

CPYB Brokers must renew their Certification every three years by participating in 30 credit hours of industry training contributing to their professional development.  The BCYBA and the other sponsoring Associations strive to provide ample opportunity for members to earn CPYB recertification credits.

Eligible brokers should complete the CPYB application form and submit it to the CPYB administration offices in Annapolis, Maryland. BCYBA members in good standing are eligible to receive the exam materials at a substantial discount compared to non-members.
