Membership Fees Increase

The last 19 months have been eventful, to say the least. We rescheduled the BC Boat show not once, but three times, losing revenue in two fiscal years. This loss delivered a major hit to our finances, as the Boat Show represents between 80 and 90 percent of BCYBA’s annual revenue. Meanwhile, we maintained our office and operations, and retained Boat Show Manager Steven Threadkell at a substantially reduced fee to stand at the ready for BC to reopen. We also incurred extraordinary legal fees to fulfill the requests of the Cullen Commission of Inquiry into Money Laundering. With little income to support our ongoing expenses and unexpected challenges, BCYBA’s resources are in deep decline.

So far, we have used our small reserve fund to stay afloat, but it is not sufficient to sustain us. Because of this, the board has voted to increase membership fees. Increasing dues is not a decision the board takes lightly, yet we feel this action is necessary to provide funds to protect the interests of our industry and our members, and to keep our association running now, and for the future.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your continued support.
